The main objective of the PhD study is to generate information on the types and quantities of antimicrobial contaminants in water and environment associated with animal wastes in urban and peri-urban areas. During the period under review the student collected more samples from manure and urine from confined animals in selected farms and those from Municipal waste points for screening and quantification of antimicrobials in water, the student had the opportunity to go to Denmark, beginning August 2016 for learning analytical techniques and sample analysis. The student is under supervision of Prof R.H Mdegela in Tanzania and Prof Anders Dalsgaard in Copenhagen. The student has not indicated the possibility of submitting his work in 2017.
